JOHN R. MELNICK, MD, FACP

John Melnick grew up in Elmira, New York.  He graduated in 1971 from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, taking his specialty training in Internal Medicine at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.  He obtained his Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1974.  After working at Penang Adventist Hospital in Malaysia for two years, he entered private practice in Maryland.  In 1976 he and Dr. Byrl Johnson formed a partnership and three years later established the current medical practice in Gaithersburg.  Dr. Melnick is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Montgomery County and Maryland State Medical Societies, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  He is especially interested in geriatrics and preventative medicine through a healthy lifestyle.  He enjoys reading, movies, traveling, and playing euphonium in the Montogomery Village Community Band.  He and his wife of 46 years look forward to spending time with their 3 children and their spouses and 5 grandchildren.
